People from families in amidst financial survival mode do not typically run for political office, and yet, the candidates for whom we can choose to vote often promise they will advocate for working class families stereotypically because they understand financial struggle because they come from humble backgrounds or similar rags-to-riches type histories.
I am a mom whose family is in amidst financial survival mode. I am a working class Georgian currently struggling to make ends meet for my family. Volunteering in my community has not been a priority much like my career or social-networking and I am unlike all the other political candidates running . . . However, perhaps the political candidate mold is outdated and Georgia needs someone who doesn't fit the mold at all, and is willing to think creatively and outside the proverbial box.
I strongly believe all Georgians deserve the opportunity to thrive, regardless of financial status, even amidst hard times.
As Governor, I will not be able to do much about rising grocery or gas prices but I absolutely will prioritize changing our state income tax system to a graduated / progressive tax system (from the current flat tax system) to put money back into the hands of the working class Georgians who are feeling the current, and will be feeling the coming, cash flow issues the hardest.
